Harrogate Yorkshire Black Tea You may never have tasted a cup of tea quite like this one! A blend of Flowery Tippy Orange Pekoe (FTOP) and Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) black teas from China, Kenya, and India. This full-bodied tea has a rich deep flavor that brightens golden when milk is added. We should know something about this fine tea as it is the hometown of our very own “Tea Lady.” Why does a small town in North Yorkshire have a tea named after it, I hear you ask? Harrogate is well known for its water, the prime ingredient in a fresh hot cuppa! Tewitt Well Tea and Harrogate have a shared history dating back to almost the first recorded tea consumption in Britain. Harrogate is home to many ancient wells, the most famous being Tewitt Well, which William Slingsby discovered during the 1700s. He believed the water had healing properties and could cure almost anything. As a result, the town became a Spa center where the rich and famous bathed in and drank the waters consuming a few cups of tea along the way. Needless to say, Harrogate is also famous for the teashops, and a visit to the town is not complete without a visit to Bettys for tea and a plate of their superb pastries. Yorkshire people are renowned for being honest and saying it just how it is or “calling a spade a spade,” as it were. This is a great morning or afternoon tea, but brilliant for curling up on your couch. You will never have felt better than you do after a cup (or two, maybe three) of our Harrogate Yorkshire black tea. You may never drink any other tea ever again! 20 to 25 cups of tea can be made from 2 oz of loose-leaf tea. BREWING INSTRUCTIONS for Harrogate Yorkshire Black Tea Steep this tea multiple times as loose-leaf teas have far more flavor than traditional tea bags due to their superior quality and freshness. Tea strength is a personal decision, so please experiment to determine your preferences. Use boiling water and allow your Harrogate Yorkshire Black Tea to steep as little as 3 minutes or as much as 6 minutes. For each of the following steeps, use boiling water and double the steep time. Harrogate Yorkshire Black Tea can be steeped at least 3 times and, depending on the steep times, as many as 5 times. Also, consider blending the first steep with the following steeps to balance the tea; if you do not want to drink all the tea, store it in the fridge for wonderful iced tea. Store in a dry place.
